Agriculture and Ecological Initiatives: |
To build agro-based industries by improving skills, practices, methods, yields and varieties. The Program gives equal importance to the protection, and promotion, of ecological balance and bio-diversity. One of the major components of agricultural and ecological initiatives is Afforestation with objectives to facilitate and accelerate people's involvement in tree plantation and thereby generating income, conservation of environment friendly nature and natural beauty. |

Cooperative and Credit Programs: |
In mid seventies GUP has introduced Cooperative and Credit Program to support the group members through human and skill trainings with credit support. The Program facilitates the formation of samities/groups amongst the rural poor to stimulate the process of savings, mobilization of capital and the generation of productive economic activities in order to improving the socio-economic condition of the poor people. In the year1996 Palli Karma Shahayak Foundation (PKSF) came forward with credit support under its Rural Micro Credit Program in partnership with GUP and financially supporting GUP Cooperative and Credit Program by providing credit under the various programs: such as: RMC, MFTS, LRP, SAHOS, ASM, EFRRAP, Seasonal Loan and ME. The IGAs are mostly cow rearing, beef fattening, goat rearing, mini hatchery, rice trading, Paddy cultivation, small business, fish trading, shop keeping, van pulling, carpentry, fire-wood trading, furniture business, hawking etc |

Community Health Care Program: |
To provide basic preventive and curative health services through a network of outreach facilities. A special focus is given to mother and child care, health education and training, nutrition, sanitation, safe drinking water and immunization. Currently GUP through its Satellite clinics provides health related services to mothers & children's. The services include pre, during and post natal service to the mothers & children's including coverage of the immunization for the children's & mothers. The health workers also provide the health counseling to attending mothers at the clinics. Besides, Eye Camp is organized every year since GUP’s inception in collaboration with Bangladesh National Society for the Blind (BNSB-Khulna) for general eye treatment and cataract operation of the poor people. |

Livestock (poultry, cow) and Fisheries Program: |
GUP facilitates pisci-culture and animal husbandry for greater sources of income and nutrition in the community by increasing availability of nutritional foods, generating new economic activities and providing a good source of livelihoods. From GUP Livestock Centres, cows and goats are inseminated through high breed bulls and black Bengal bucks for production of better breeds of cows and goats by the community people. And from Fish Nursery, fish fry are released in the nursery pond, after taking care of few days, the fish fingerlings are then distributed /sold to the fish farmers for cultivation in their own pond. |

Women Development Program |
GUP sees women as a key factor of bringing changes and works towards the full realization of the women’s vital role and needs, both within the family, and the community as a whole seeking to uplift their overall socio-economic position. Gender Equity is one of the core themes of GUP activities, accordingly GUP considers gender as a crosscutting issue in all of its development efforts. In facilitating Income Generating Activities (IGA’s), GUP gives priority to women group members in providing loan, training and other technical supports. |

GUP Batik and Handicrafts |
GUP Batik and Handicrafts started functioning in the year 1982, introducing new skills centered round the production of Batik and Handicrafts items and continues to generate a form of creative employment as well as income earning opportunity for rural poor. Destitute and divorced women as well as selected group members engaging in Batik and Handicrafts are producing different colorful handicrafts products. GUP Batik has a high demand to the customers in both home and abroad. |

Children Education Program |
GUP runs children education centers (I-III level), for the children of disadvantaged and poor families. After 3 years of schooling, the students are sent to Govt. primary school. Besides Govt. curriculum, the school also runs extra curriculum activities in order to cultivate the seeds of peace and nonviolence in the minds of the children through various creative activities. The students are imparted Creative Learning-using art/craft, music, dance, drama and story telling. |

Training Center |
The Training Center, established in 1976 is an ideal venue for Training, Conference, Seminar and Workshop. The Centre has an ongoing program of training courses, seminars and workshops aimed at upgrading skills and increasing knowledge, communication and efficiency amongst GUP Program beneficiaries, team members and people from other NGOs and Governmental agencies. The Centre offers a complete package including modest living arrangements; dining room and training facilities equipped with multimedia communication services. The conference hall can accommodate 75-80 participants. This conference room can instantly be converted into two separate training halls, each accommodating 30-35 participants in a seminar-type seating arrangement. |

Peace Centre |
GUP Peace Center commonly known as Shanti Kendra established in 1982 at Khalia, about 190 km south west of Dhaka. The Peace Center with its beautiful gardens, fish ponds, dairy, library, residential accommodations and training venues attracts number of peace activists from various parts of the country and all over. The Center offers training courses on peace and non-violence, conflict transformation and promotes human development, mediation activities pertaining to Peace and Social Harmony as they affect communities at local, national, regional and international levels. The center under youth participation activities places youths/volunteers to inculcate volunteerism and mobilizes the potential of youths to play a constructive role in economic and cultural development of the community. |

Disaster Risk Reduction linking to Climate Change: |
Since inception in 1973, GUP has always been very responsive to the needs of the victims of natural calamities. GUP has done massive relief and rehabilitation work, during and after the floods of 1987, 1988 and 1998 devastated cyclones of 1991 & 1997. Later GUP has initiated long-term development work on the background of relief work in the coastal areas of Chittagong as well as responded to the SIDR cyclone in the coastal areas of Patuakhali district. Conceiving the recent grave concern due to Climate Change, GUP is now giving priorities for the enhancement of Disaster Management capacity of the poor and hardcore poor community people linking with climate change. |
